Fast forward through Spain and France!

I’m running short on time and I need to get a move on through Spain and up into France.   Problem is, I need service on the bike and desperately need a new rear tire! All those little stone streets in Portugal ate my tire right up and it’s completely bald.  But there is no where around here to get a new bike tire, the kind I want anyway...

Portugal Part 3

Just a little blog post I would have liked to have included to finish up Portugal on the last one, but ran out of time.  Back on the road again north of Porto, I get a text message from Miguel asking where I am.. I told him I was heading back into Spain shortly. He said wanted to show me more of Portugal first.  Mmmm.. should I? I was feeling I moved too...

Portugal Part 2

It’s another beautiful day in Portugal.. we’re off and running! A quick visit into Santar and a peek at the Duke of Portugal‘s house.  Really good looking place and we also peeked through the gate to the back yard. Seems like a pretty normal house for royalty..  but it does carry on a bit.. Now for a REAL CASTLE!!  I know I’ve...

Portugal

Aha!!  New Camera project accomplished in Seville Spain.. finally!  I’ve got somewhat normal photos again! Hallelujah!! Now I can get on the road again.. yay!  I’m going to Portugal!~!  I’ve been looking forward to this as it’s one of the main countries I wanted to see in Europe.  As normal I follow the back routes...

Seville Spain

My ride through the back roads to Seville was beautiful, but that dag gone camera! The photos are not going to work.. most of them are pure white and completely unusable.  How I got the few I did, for who knows what reason.  I’ll put up the ones I managed to tweek enough to post.. Meandering my way through so many great little Spanish villages. Their...

South Spain

After my night in the truck stop.. I decide to continue my way through Spain on the back roads to Madrid.   I found a great property for sale… should I??  😉 Bull fight advertising in a village.. wasn’t sure but they seem to still be popular! I love the back roads.. it appears that life is good out here.. and definitely more authentic than...

Palma de Mallorca Spain

I did it!! Managed to get from Slovenia to Spain in record time! Came in through Italy via Monaco and France into Spain, and navigated my way to Barcelona easily to the ferry port to board with an hour to spare.  As usual, the ferry to Palma de Mallorca is an overnight sailing, and an expensive one at that, so it’s deck chair space for me again. ...

Fast forward through Slovenia and Italy!

Not far from Umag Croatia, I ride through Slovenia.  Heading for a planned stop at Lake Bled, as so many people have recommended it to me.  It’s not far, I’m not in a hurry, so I pick the little dirt roads.. well me and Mr. Garmin picked them. My camera is still very sick if not dying.  It’s getting really bad.. I get the odd picture...

Back to Croatia, Doug Wothke and Umag Biker Party!

First, a few more bullet holes.. The last day with Josip, we finish riding through north Bosnia before crossing the border to Croatia.. but not without witnessing a few last abandoned and destroyed villages.  So few people have moved back since the war.  I haven’t seen any other country like this on my trip so far.  And it would be such a...

Bosnia – Beauty and Bullet Holes

We eventually made it into Sarajevo, Bosnia, where we are to meet and stay with Josip’s wealthy business friends.  It really struck me as we are parking under the veranda near the pool, how nice and pretty this property in the middle of town was. As on the other side of the pool is more of a bold reality of war-torn Sarajevo.  It’s like night...
